July 12, 2017 Historic Cycling Race on Gastown's cobblestone streets features Junior Races 5:30pm, Women's 30-Lap Race 6pm, Men's 50-Lap Race 8pm. During the race a Bell is rung alerting Riders the next Lap Leader wins a prize - PRIMES (primz) Sponsors offer $250 - $1000 Lap rewards. Dr. Roger Summer created the Gastown Grand Prix in 1973 for the public to experience Professional Bike Racing in Vancouver. The event now attracts Pro Cyclists from across North America.
